National Association of Toastmasters Member

Associate Member

With examinations completed Peter recently graduated to Associate Member following a career in Banking. His studies continue with the aim of progressing to Fellowship.

Peter has established a reputation for careful preparation. Whatever the function - Civic event, private garden party or wedding – he prides himself on taking a detailed briefing a month beforehand by meeting the people concerned. 'Whether they are committee-members or the happy couple, getting to know them and their expectations is vital.' he says. Not simply to avoid mistakes and oversights – having chatted informally for an hour or so involves him more personally in the occasion and he can apply his personality to enhancing the atmosphere 'whether it's to be a lively party, a formal luncheon or a quiet dignified wedding celebration, mood and style will vary greatly, Peter says. "I'm not the one-size-fits-all toastmaster – mine is a truly bespoke service!"

On the day itself, his confidence, quiet authority and humour allow him to take control of the proceedings - whatever the occasion, he is responsible for its smooth-running – both behind the scenes and 'front of house'.

At the end of 2008 Peter added international experience to his portfolio with functions in Cape Town, Hong Kong and on the island of Jersey. Becoming well-known at several significant venues in the Chilterns and Thames Valley, Peter is expecting a busy Wedding season for 2009. Having met many brides-to-be at the Spring fairs, he is helping with the planning of several Big Days as far ahead as May 2010.

Peter adds, "I am proud of being with the National Association – we are ambassadors for the profession and I feel very fortunate to do what I do. The Chilterns and Thames Valley have numerous beautiful venues and I will relish being a part of many happy occasions here in the years to come. It's a great job!".
